Victor Hugo and the thatched houses road.

 Hello Friends,

Today, this will be a common post to my two blogs.

Yesterday, was a bank holidays and despite the poor weather ( very heavy showers) we decided to go out ( with our masks!)

And visit a place we liked very much.

It is called: “ the thatched house road”

When we arrived, we had to stay in the car because of heavy showers, then it cleared off and our visit could begin!

This village is a village of thatched houses, by the river Seine. We have been walking to look at the houses and gardens. Most of them are holidays houses and were empty at this time of the year

As you can see on a few pictures one was being re roofed.

Only a few people know how to do it nowadays..

Then we have been off to Villequier, the place of a Victor Hugo’s museum. In fact it was his daughter’s house Léopoldine who was drowned in the river Seine just in front of the house.

Victor Hugo wrote “ les misérables” and lot’s of other books and poems such as” Demain des l’aube” in memory of his daughter.

This is

This is what we could visit between showers, wearing coats, scarves and rain coats!

  2. Prachtige foto's van de huizen en het museum. Wij bezochten het in 2014.
